Siem Reap - Cambodia (Part 3)

Where was I?!?! Sorry for the long time anticipation. Lets get back to where I’ve left… =]

At night, we went looking for cheap food. Along the way, these were what we saw...

Lucky Seven- The one and only fast food at Cambodia.

Anyway, those are Khmer words, not Sanskrit, nor Jawi .

image

VNC- not VINCCI. (almost the same design... like what the Cambodians like to quote " same same, but different")

As Chinese New Year is coming, even the stuffed crocodile have its hands together to greet at the entrance.

image

Jumble-mumble wirings… really dangerous

There's this street called Pub Street, where the whole street is filled with restaurants, fine-dining... slightly pricey... and yet we did not dine there... we went to the street next to it, and have a standard price of 1 USD for each plate.

Mamak style. That's the cheapest, no fan, ventilation would be depending on the wind.  You have to either speak very very clearly, or point nicely on the menu (those with fat fingers are not advice to do this). And please don't confuse them... It's just going to make things worst. =]

Small cooking area.

And they are really thrifty, they will do whatever it takes to repair broken items. Look at the chair- stitched up with rafia string. My gosh, and we Malaysians just dump it away. Majority of the chairs are like that, if your wondering probably this is the only one.

After dinner we walked to… pasar malam

image

I find these lightings rather attractive…

image

Guess what I found???

image image

Hmm… since when did I employ a model?

imageI’ve been buying elephants, just for the fun of it. Have both marble-carved ones and those made commercially from the factory. And I’ve been getting each of it cheaper than the one before… Perhaps I’m not that brilliant for the first few bargains.

Day 3:

As usual Mom & I woke up early for breakfast and walkabout while waiting for the others to meet us.

I personally love this picture. =>

Playing chess… They were to engross in their game and did not bother asking us to ride on their tut-tut.

Or… maybe we looked like we aren’t a potential customer…ha ha

Corn for sale!!!

image

Oh oh… this is really rare!

The little girl carries the weighing machine everywhere she goes. Makes money buy charging people who wants to know their weight.

image

And… my mom stopped by the market to shop for gems (not jam). According to the person, they are genuine, he even used a machine to detect. Sold to us at a very low cost, probably because we speak Hokkien and they speak Teochew… so feel related somehow. Ha ha.

Of course, when women found something good and worthwhile, they will spread the news, and this is the outcome of it…. ….

image After everyone of us are fully loaded with rubies, sapphire, amethyst, etc., we moved on to the wet market.

Mani & pedi…

2 USD for each. May not be as hygienic, yet just for the fun of it, we gave it a go!

Seamstresses working hard. They sew clothes right on the spot!

Back alley of pub street…image

Crocky meat…

They have really nice building designs. Wonder who are the ones behind all these…image

Ohkayy, we just got bored of waiting for our booze.. so we’re acting like those Aspara(s) - Dancers

image image image

image

image Don’t get mislead, the dancers never did what Jon(the guy with green shirt and a big USA tongued-mouth) did. He could have blown the customers off just in split seconds.

Day 4: Back-to-Malaysia Day

image

Apparently there are open air movie every night during our stay at Somadevi, as were all busy discovering the place, we did not bother to take a glimpse.

Can’t seem to get a clear picture of her. She plays the bells every morning. Even from the second floor where our room is situated, we could hear the melody clearly. She could actually look and smile at the camera while her hand goes on with the song. Awesome!

The surroundings are beautifully decorated with plants..

Get to snap pictures in the hotel only on the last day, right before going to the airport. Such a pretty sight…

Not sure where would my next trip would be. Pretty sure it’s going to be an adventurous one!
